I am going to have an adventure to see Wild animal which is totally different from Zoo
Every day there was cloud that I couldn’t see Kilimanjaro. I’ve stayed in Moshi for five nights. At the third night I see Mount Kilimanjaro.
Moshi is close to Kilimanjaro that most climbers stay in Moshi. Kilimanjaro is the highest mount in Africa that it is 5,895 m (19,340 ft) from sea level. But it is not the mount I can climb. It is not because of my weakness, but because of money. Budget climbing is almost over 1,300 to 1,500 $ to climb for five nights.
I tried something at the beginning of this year that I had sent letters to many companies to get supports (Money). But, I didn’t get back any message from companies. No Answer. At that time I gave up climbing Kilimanjaro.
So now I am just trying to have tour of one day climb. Even it is expensive that if I go with tour company I have to pay 120$~150$. If I go alone, then it might be around 80 or 100$? Is the mount covered with gold or diamond? Why government tries to get tons of money from tourists?
I keep researching about climbing Kilimanjaro to get information for one day tour. The more I get information, the more I want to go. I do want to climb Kilimanjaro. Oh…
It drives me crazy that I really want to go to the top. So, I just walk to tour company to ask about Kilimanjaro. I find one cheap budget company. After talking, I say to him I will come back after a week, because my plan was to stay in Arusha for a week which is the next city.
As I leave, he tells me there is Safari tour, and he will give me it at very cheap price. Usually they sell three parks in four days. He says the tour team already starts that I can join tour from tomorrow. Three nights and four days is around 700$, but he says he will give me two nights and three days at 400$.
My plan was to visit Masai mara, Kenya Safai, because it is cheaper than Serengeti. Although Serengeti is bigger, there are almost the same animals.
But 400$ is not bad for Serengeti and Ngorongoro, I think.
He says that after one hour tour company’s bus will go to Arusha. I can join tour from tonight. There is not much time to think that I just pay everything.
I put my bike on the top of tour company’s bus. The owner says to me somebody will wait me in Arusha and drive to camping place.
I know some host in Arusha that my plan is to leave my bike and other stuff at host house. As I arrive in Arusha, the worker makes a call to my host. I though he is asking host’s address. But oh man. I can’t believe that he is asking something to my host. I am too embarrassed that I call to main office and ask what he is doing.
Later worker says blah blah, and then drops me at the host house to leave my luggage. And then he drops me at bus terminal. I have to take a local bus to get to camping place.
The owner told me that there is Korean couple. But there are only England couple and two French teenagers. I don’t mind any nationality that I can’t understand why he lies. Everything is lie what he told me.
Although most of thing he told me are lies, camping site is very nice, and dinner is okay that I try to think positively. Anyway I am so excited to see wild animal tomorrow.
We start around 9 am. Driver, our guide, tells he has to do some job for park fee at the bank. We have to wait over 30 minutes. I think he is paying park fee on the bank.
It is entrance of Ngorongoro area. We wait over one hour. When we arrived here were lots of Safari car. When we leave there are only few cars. I guess our guide were too late.
During waiting I went to Museum. This is big five animal. The phrase big five game animals was coined by hunters and refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot.
After long waiting and driving, finally we will go into Safari? It stars too bumpy road. There is Ngorongoro crater which is the biggest in the world. There are lots of animal living together. A guide says we will go to there at the last day.
The car turns to the right. Finally do we go to Serengeti? Nope. It is just for lunch time. In the lunch box, there are some sandwich, cupcake, fruit and chicken. When I eat almost half of chicken, something happens.
It is called Black kite, which snatch my chicken. It happened only in one second. It is lucky that the bird didn’t touch my hands. Anyway it was fantastic experience. One big huge bird was flying in front of my face.
Masai lives in the other side of Ngorongoro Crater. We just keep driving, but there is no Serengeti. When do we get to Serengeti???
Giraffes! It looks like one body and four necks.
After 3 pm we get into Serengeti entrance. BUT we have to wait again.
I just waiting and watching bird. I can’t understand why government makes all system too slow. Before four at the afternoon we go into Serengeti.
Other people, tourists, on a car put the top up although there is no animal to look. They are the same as me that it is too boring and long driving without watching games.
But the thing is there is not bit animal from the entrance. We have to keep driving to go into deep. When I watch big bird, finally I feel I am in the wild animal’s place.
This is Masai Giraffe. A pattern is different from other Giraffe.
On January one of South African’s friends invited me to Game Park. This giraffe has totally different pattern. Masai giraffe’s pattern is like a flower. Oh, I miss that time. There was no rush and everything was thankful. Now I am having hard time. I spent a lot of money on this tour, one month my budget for three days. But there is not much time to watch Game. I didn’t know it. I didn’t mind poor service, because I expected I will spend most of time on watching game. But reality I realize is there is not much time to enjoy on Safari even.
Is this one family?
Oh, baby giraffe. It is so cute!
There is other safari car on the back like us.
The pattern on giraffe is totally different. It is more beautiful.
One of my favorite animals is giraffe.
There are hundreds of Thomson’s gazelles.
There is African tree.
I am shocked that there are too many safari cars. What is going on?
Everybody is looking at one place. Somebody says there is a Leopard. Where? Where?
When I zoom in the photo, I find a leopard on the tree.
But I can’t see with my eyes that I watch Elephant’s family is walking at the other side.
Wow. Leopard is walking to me!!
Are you going back?
Oh!Oh! He is coming to me! Awesome!
Leopards are different from Cheetahs. Cheetahs have simple black spots, while leopards have a more complex pattern. Cheetahs head is smaller as well.
You are so handsome, man!
Look at back again.
And then keep going.
Leopard is going far away.
Leopard is sitting and thinking.
Now there are elephants at the place where Leopard was, and there are many hippos on the water.
There are Topi.
It is a baby of Impala
Usually there are more impalas in other safari. But it seems there are more thomson gazelle here.
After watching impala’s baby, we come to the camping site. Actually it is not the tour of Safari, but the way to come to camping site. Anyway it is lucky that I watch a leopard on the way to camping site.
There is no fence on the camping site. I ask a guide lions don’t like human meat. But he doesn’t give me answer about why we are safe.
The next day we start six at the morning. The sun goes up on Serengeti.
Although I’ve watched sun rising and sunset many times at many different places, it is always wonderful. Especially today’s sun rising will be remain on my memory long.
This is a Honey Badger. It looks so cute, but actually a badger eats a snake!! A badger loves honey as well. A honey badger is enough stronger to stand snake’s poison and bee’s sting.
I though it is a Thomson gazelle’s baby. But it is already all grown, and the name of this animal is dik-dik, small antelope.
A hyena is coming!
It looks cute.
Now it looks a bit betrayer.
It is other tourists on a car. It is very interesting that in the front, two French girls, they are under 18 years old. They come to Africa by themselves to volunteer without any adult. Though they arrange volunteering with some organization, I think their parents are too brave ever.
England couple has volunteered over six months with some organization. Recently they got high jacking at the tax in Dar es Salaam. But they say they are gonna volunteer one year more in Africa with other more some organizations as spending their own money. In Africa there are many different kind of people whom I can’t meet on the city easily.
It is Jackal.
Ears are like rabbit’s
It looks like a cow.
But actually this animal’s name is Coke´s Hartebeet.
I like watching bird that I feel so lucky to watch lots of different bird in Africa. The name of this bird is Kori Bustard. How do I know those all animals name? Although a guide told us the name, I couldn’t remember. I ask him later with the note and pen, but he was too arrogant and unhelpful. So, I research on online after Safari. This site is so helpful. http://www.serengeti.org/animals.html
I though it is a Thomson’s gazelle. But it is an impala.
Oh, it is so sad that when we close to a handsome lion, he just lies down. It is so interesting that as we go far from a lion, we couldn’t find lion. It means he is the king of hide.
The lion on the right of the picture is waiting to hunt a gazelle which is on the left.
After twenty minutes? When a gazelle is moving, a lion starts following slowly. But I don’t think she will success hunting, because she looks so slow.
When a drivers go back to check, she just walk without any food. Actually the success rate of hunting of lion is only 10 % to 20 %. A lion has some of similar habit like old African culture that a male lion doesn’t hunt, but a female lion hunts. But a male lion eats it first, and a female lion eats late.
Oh, her children are waiting food.
There are two more her children.
After long waiting, they start being sleepy.
After I take this picture, I start loving a Thomson gazelle more. It looks so handsome like a fighter.
My favorite animal! Zebra! So cute!
The bird has long legs and tail! What a beautiful!
There are hippos. They come out in the night, but they usually stay at water in the day time.
It is a Fish Eagle that they only eat fish!
It is an elephant and monkey. It would be fun to watch they greet to each other as passing.
It is so funny that the hand of an elephant is actually nose.
At first, baby’s monkey is on a mom’s belly.
As a baby grows a bit more, then a baby sits on mother’s back.
A mother monkey tries to give a baby comfortable sit as standing tail vertically.
My lovely giraffe!
My handsome thomson gazelle!
Oh please, let me see your mouse!
It looks they are too lazy during day time.
One of French girl loves warthog, pumbaa.
I like topi as well.
There is a crocodile on the picture at the right upper.
Hippo is most aggressive animal! Watch youtube!
It is the most dangerous animal to human in Africa.
Hippo and crocodile
Another video about hippo and crocodile
Rhino loves hippo?
After watching African bird, our safari tour is finished on Serengeti.
After having lunch, we have to leave Serengeti. What a short trip, but horribly expensive. A driver, guide, is so arrogant that he doesn’t help other thing. Oh.. we are the last one again. Already other cars left. .
Our Safari tour on Serengeti is finished that we have to go out of park. During going back to entrance, there is some wild animal.
There are many cars, and we follow them. If there is some animal of big five, then always there are many cars.
If a male lions is over two years old, then there is beautiful mane. But I think this lion is just teenager.
A tail is longer.
It looks like a dog?
Now it looks like a king of jungle.
It is time to go out Serengeti.
On the way back, there are some maasai tribe. The people who has white painting on the face are having coming of age ceremony.
